Knight Webb are delighted to confirm their appointment by leading UK Retailer M&S on the development of a new regional distribution hub on DP World’s new high profile 9 million sq ft London Gateway Logistics and Industrial development sites.
London Gateway is the UK and Europe’s most significant new multi-modal deep-sea container ports and Europe’s largest logistics parks located in the south of the county of Essex in the UK. The port is due for completion in the fourth quarter of 2013 and is part of a £1.5 billion project to build the UK’s first 21st century major multi-modal deep-sea container port.
Knight Webb has been appointed as key members of the project delivery team tasked with responsibility for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art 910,000 sq ft regional distribution centre for M&S.
Commenting on the announcement, Knight Webb Director, Richard Webb said: “This appointment is a land-mark achievement for KnightWebb not only in terms of the scale of the project but confirmation of our instruction on London Gateway – which is arguable the biggest industrial development site of its type in all of Europe. We are proud to have been selected on such a high profile project and look forward to delivering a successful outcome”
This project features a particularly challenging brief including a tight delivery programme and testing ground conditions. Construction is due to start on site in January 2014 with a target of the building being operational by Q1 2016.
