Knight Webb Wins Major Instruction on New £83 million 850,000 sq ft Defence Fulfilment Centre (DFC) for Ministry of Defence (MoD)

Working  in conjunction with Leidos and Kuehne+Nagel, Knight Webb have confirmed their appointment as employers agent and project managers on the development of two new build warehouse and logistic centres with a combined size of over 850,000 sq ft under construction for The Ministry of Defence at a site in Donnington, near Telford, Shropshire

The state of the art 850,000 sq ft centre will store food, clothing, general and medical supplies and bring the military’s logistics, commodities and support services up to the standard of industry best practice.

It will also deliver more efficient and effective processes across the supply chain through better storage and streamlined distribution, enhancing the level of support provided to UK Armed Forces.

The Defence Fulfilment Centre (DFC), to be run by Leidos, will take around one year to build and comprise two warehouses covering an area equivalent to the same size as 14 football pitches. Construction started at the beginning of October.  McLaren have been appointed as Main Contractor.

Knight Webb Awarded First Instruction by Goodman on Northampton Commercial Park Development


Knight Webb are pleased to announce the award of their inugural instruction by leading owner, manager and developer of Logistics and Business Park Space Goodman  as Employer’s Agents for the delivery of two brand new speculative warehouse developments of 300,000 sq ft and 160,000 sq ft to be delivered to Goodman’s flagship Northampton Commercial Park development. 

Construction is due to commence in Spring 2015 with Units set to be available from Q4 2015.

Businesses currently occupying space in the area include John Lewis, Travis Perkins,  and Carlsberg.   Development on the 500 acre Grange Park site began in the early 2000’s, with initial development including a distribution park, offices, hotels and new homes.

Knight Webb Appointed by L&G on Grand Central, Trafford Park, Manchester


Knight Webb have confirmed the appointment by Legal and General and specialist developer of logistics and industrial property Evander to act as project managers, cost consultants and employers agent for the delivery of a new 250,000 sq ft build to suit distribution warehouse at Evander’s Grand Central, Trafford Park development in Manchester.

Construction of the development which is pre-let to leading Third Party Logistics Provider (3PL) XPO Logistics  is due to start on site in August 2015  and complete by March 2016.  It will feature 237,000 sq ft of warehouse space together 13,000 sq ft of office space and will be arranged over two storeys . It will be developed to BREEAM “Very Good” certification.

XPO Logistics have agreed terms on a 15 year lease and will utilise the facility to distribute products for the fast expanding Missguided fashion brand.

Knight Webb played a prominent role in the development and signing of the project, working in close collaboration with both the fund and tenant to produce cost-plans to incorporate tenant enhanced works together with the detailed project specifications.

Knight Webb Receives New Instruction From Developer Hampton Brook


Knight Webb are delighted to announce the appointment as  cost consultants and project managers by Northampton based property developer Hampton Brook  for the delivery of a new speculative warehouse development totaling approximately 103,500 square feet in Thrapston.

The project known as Thrapston103 is a new speculative development fronting the A14 and features 12.5 metre eaves, 8 dock level and 2 level access doors, 74 car parking and 23 HGV spaces.  It will be developed to the BREEAM Very Good certification.

Construction is due to commence in the summer and be complete by Spring 2016.  Adjacent occupiers include Paperchase, DSV, Resinex, Morrisons, Primark and Saicapack.

The project is the second appointment received to date for Knight Webb from the developer following the successful completion and handover of a new £17 million 157,000 sq ft new production facility and UK headquarters for Brioche Pasquier UK Ltd in partnership with Roxhill in Milton Keynes.

Knight Webb have announced details of further expansion with news of the the appointment of Steve Baldwin to the team.

As an experienced Design Manager and Chartered Architectural Technologist Steve has spent the majority of the past 15 years working within the Logistic and Manufacturing sector working across both the pre-construction and construction stage.

Steve has a proactive and hands on approach in working with clients, design professionals and contractors to aid the delivery of quality solutions.
