Knight Webb will be providing technical support and carry out a fund monitoring role directly for Evander Properties and completed development owners British Airways Pension Fund (BAPF) for a 90,000 sq ft built to suit dot.com fulfilment centre for leading UK supermarket retailer Waitrose in Coulsdon, South London.
Construction will commence with Winvic Construction in January 2014 and is expected to deliver the expanding retailer’s first bespoke distribution centre dedicated to on-line orders in Q4 2014. The facility will create over 600 jobs and constitutes a total investment of over £30 million.
The deal was signed at the start of October 2013 after a complex site assembly and acquisition process where Knight Webb provided project management and cost consultancy support.
Development is the second project instruction received by Evander and Waitrose following successful completion on time and of the 420,000 sq ft build to suit regional distribution centre also built for Waitrose at Matrix Park, Chorley.

Instruction serves as further evidence of the growing relationship between Knight Webb and Kuehne & Nagel following a succession of recent project appointments.
Knight Webb are pleased to announce the appointment as Tenants Agent from leading Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Logistics & Storage firm UDG on the development of a new 224,0000 sq ft built-to-suit development located on the Castlewood Business Park, located in the East Midlands.
UDG has confirmed that it has engaged Knight Webb in the role as Tenant’s Agent to include responsibility for the management and delivery of building together with full fit-out works comprising of warehouse racking, sprinklers, office fit-out, fuel island and vehicle wash.
Knight Webb are pleased to announce the appointment as project Managers, Cost Consultant’s and Employer’s Agent for leading Industrial Investor and Developer Blackstone Logicor and Asset Managers Anglesea Capital for the management and delivery two building extensions of 75,000 and 65,000 sq ft respectively for fast expanding online retailer ASOS’s existing 550,000 sq ft central distribution unit in Houghton Main near Barnsley.
Once completed the extensions will deliver a new, overall distribution and warehouse facility totalling 690,000 sq ft and represent one of the largest distribution and warehouse facilities currently located in the North East of the UK.
Both extensions will be 19 metre high to underside of haunch. The works will also include modification of the existing service yards together with an extension to the main car park.
Working closely with Development Managers Evander Properties and in close liaison with ASOS, Knight Webb worked up detailed proposals which were carefully designed to minimise the impact of the construction on the retailer’s ongoing daily distribution operations.
This includes strengthening works required to the existing structure to accommodate additional snow loading from the higher extension. The works have been planned to be undertaken out ‘out of hours’ and in a carefully planned manner in order to minimise disruption.
The works will commence on site on 17th June 2013 and expected to complete with PC on 13th December 2013. Buckingham Contracting are the Main Contractor.
Knight Webb are delighted to announce the award of a further project appointment by leading UK Industrial & Logistics developers Roxhill to manage construction of a 36,000 sq ft built to suit parcel-hub for Geopost.
Knight Webb’s relationship with Roxhill continues to expand with confirmation of the award of further project instruction to manage the development and delivery of the next distribution project for Geopost at Roxhill’s 240 acre Peterborough Gateway site.

Knight Webb are pleased to confirm the award of a new contract to manage the first phase of demolition on the 25 acre mixed use development situated on the Stonehill Estate in Enfield on behalf of Fairacre and Lasalle Investment Management.
Demolition is due to commence on site in September with a January 2014 completion. It will feature the release of the site for future development to consist of industrial, warehouse and retail units.
Knight Webb has been appointed into the role as project managers with responsibility for managing the delivery of this phase of project which is part of the wider £2 billion Meridian Water Development as lead by Enfield Council.
Knight Webb are delighted to confirm their appointment by leading UK Retailer M&S on the development of a new regional distribution hub on DP World’s new high profile 9 million sq ft London Gateway Logistics and Industrial development sites.
London Gateway is the UK and Europe’s most significant new multi-modal deep-sea container ports and Europe’s largest logistics parks located in the south of the county of Essex in the UK. The port is due for completion in the fourth quarter of 2013 and is part of a £1.5 billion project to build the UK’s first 21st century major multi-modal deep-sea container port.
Knight Webb has been appointed as key members of the project delivery team tasked with responsibility for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art 910,000 sq ft regional distribution centre for M&S.

This project features a particularly challenging brief including a tight delivery programme and testing ground conditions. Construction is due to start on site in January 2014 with a target of the building being operational by Q1 2016.
